04 Jul Deliciously Ella Recipe Book Competition
Do you want to cook dairy-free, gluten-free meals? I have been thoroughly enjoying cooking my through the Deliciously Ella recipe book for the past week or so which has allowed me to do just that. As you can see by the pictures above, the recipes create super colourful food. What I especially adore is that the recipes are easy to create. And more importantly, they really are delicious!
I’ve not followed every recipe exactly. Partly that’s because I’m a fairly confident cook and so very happy to adapt recipes to suit what I have in the fridge. Partly though, it’s because some of the quantities of ingredients a few recipes call for I find frankly silly; two tubes of tomato puree in a chilli? I don’t think so. (I used a tablespoon and the food tasted great).
Many of the recipes claim to serve 4 but I would take this with a pinch of salt unless you are feeding some incredibly hungry people. I like to end up with more food than I bargained for so I have leftovers for lunch, but I found I was left with more than we could reasonably get through. So, unless you’ve got a hungry clan to feed, I’d be cautious about believing the serving sizes, and suggest even halving most recipes.
That said, I have truly enjoyed everything I have made from the book so far. My eleven year old daughter has even really enjoyed most – this is no mean feat!
So, if you want to experiment with reducing the amount of meat in your diet and increasing the amount of plant-based whole-foods then I would highly recommend this book as a great place to start. It shows that it’s not too difficult, it’s not too expensive and it’s bloomin’ delicious!
